The Dutch Experience, with a tinge of Indonesian and Portuguese!

I decided to watch the football match (Holland vs Portugal) at 'The Bar' partly because they've got a big screen there and I get to soak myself up in that 'football frenzy atmosphere' (You get to hear people screaming and swearing in different languages and also the way they bitch the players everytime they slack off on the pitch. So hilarious!!) and partly because I wanted to catch up with my mates and I knew I was bound to meet some of them there. This time I was supporting Portugal, since they are the closest to Spain ;P (d'oh,how lame is that!?!?hahaha...anyhow,I reckon they play quality football and so no doubt they really deserve to win this tournament!)

Timah then decided to tag along me (menyibuk jek!urrghhhh) and she definitely spoilt my initial plan...Kidding!!?!;P.She later ditched me (how dare she!!) and went straight home after the first half of the game.(She said she couldn't stand the cigarettes.LOL!)After a little bit of socialising during the interval I then joined Kevin (a Malaysian doing Masters) and I soon got acquainted with his friends,Jerry from Holland (yikes!and didn't actually look like one) and Mariana from Bulgaria and much to my surprise most of the people around me were supporting Holland.Tough luck!Mariana was asking me which team I was supporting and since Jerry was sitting next to her I decided to lie and said I was just there for a good match and I don't care who wins or loses.(Why lie??People there don't give a shit anyway and you have all the rights to choose whichever team to support!)I guess maybe it was because earlier on during the day I was hurt by a scornful remark from someone who proved to be immaturely insensitive to realise that what had been uttered wasn't a joke for me and didn't have the decency to apologise even after a few cynical remarks from myself.(Why do I always encounter these kind of people??)So I was probably trying to make sure everything that drifts off my tongue won't hurt other people's feelings and that's why I lied.

Anyhow, back to the football match, can you just imagine being in a state where you had to fake your actions when deep down inside you, you were behaving differently.I had to cheer and sigh for both Portugal and Holland (to make it less obvious) when I was actually jumping with joy and sneering at the Dutch team whenever they were blowing their chances off.(I felt like a hypocrite!)hahahahaha.....Anyway,when the match ended (and hurrah, way to go Portugal!!)all the four of us decided to play pool. These Masters students are really cool people and they seriously know how to have fun!Jerry wasn't quite like the 'typical Dutch' that I was once told them to be.An European friend of mine used to tell me that Dutch people are (the female ones), I quote "tall, big, with big boobs ;P,blue-eyed,smart but arrogant and stuck-up,and think that Amsterdam is the only place that has got it all!"hahaha...ok whatever!Anyway,I soon found out that Jerry was half-Dutch half Indonesian and no wonder I wasn't really convinced that he was Dutch in the first place. He didn't know any Indonesian but he does know a few words like 'sapi kontol' which basically means 'cow's dick'!hahaha(Good, now I'm taking up a new language!Does 1 or 2 words count?LOL!!)Mariana was simply adorable and crazy!(I like!;)).Anyway, the moral of the story is to never stereotype people as it is unfair and people behave differently regardless of race.I can still remember a bloke once told me that "You Malaysians exclude yourselves from the others???"I wonder if he had met every single Malaysian on the face of this earth before passing such comment? That is just plain lame, the remark!

Well, that's it for now.I am yet to indulge into another 'Dutch Experience' myself later this month when I'll be flying KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, destination:KUALA LUMPUR!.(Can't believe I'm leaving UK very very soon!!Sob!Sob!)Well, buggering off now.Laters!Ciao!
